Wellbeing in the Workplace

Wellbeing could be described as our general state of mental, emotional and physical health. In fact, how we are thinking, feeling and behaving in any moment determines our wellbeing. It's not something we have, but something we do (or not!).
Here are some further helpful definitions:
Well = whole, functioning, healthy, happy, content
Being = living organism, existing, essence, a person
Being well = functioning well, sustaining, performing, creating, feeling good
In addition to understanding the significance of work/life balance, wellbeing focuses on working and living in a way that supports the body, the mind and the spirit. Many of us might feel we have 'work-life balance' but still find ourselves in stress states after work and at weekends because we haven't yet perfected a method of unwinding and switching off. Mobile phones, Blackberrys and laptops, become perpetual add-ons to our daily life and we can find it a struggle to release ourselves from the lure of their grasp.
In fact, our life depends on us switching them off. Successful New Zealand entrepreneur Michael Hill says "I would have done none of this if I didn't also have the ability to switch off from work, divorce myself from the demands of the office and just chill out."
